Acceptance Found in the Youth Program at Project Transformation

Christina Johnson, Youth Intern at Christ’s Foundry

“Miss!…Miss!…Miss Christina!” is what I hear 75% of my day and I wouldn’t trade it for the any other experience this summer. I was nervous about working with youth. Would I be cool enough? Would they even talk to me?

Then, at our first Family Fun Night, two of the youth chose to hang around the ring toss activity where I was stationed. The church was filled with fun activities and yet they chose to be around me. Apparently they do want to talk to me and perhaps I am cool enough! Who knew? What I’ve learned so far during my summer with Project Transformation is that everyone, youth and college kids included, want to be accepted for who they are. My youth and my fellow Project Transformation interns accept and love me for exactly who I am and I couldn’t be more thankful for them.
